An overnight snowfall in Louisville usually sticks around about as long as popsicles in the freezer on a sweltering summer afternoon with the neighborhood children lined up at the door anxiously awaiting a sweet treat. I was ecstatic when I woke up to a fresh winter wonderland Monday morning, but with the forecast for 60 degree temperatures within 24 hours, I knew I better get down to business if I wanted to get out in the pretty white stuff and shoot. People always tell me, “You have the perfect model,” and “Oh it must be so easy to be a photographer when you have a baby to photograph at your leisure,” and my favorite, “She’s always so happy!” The later is a really good front she puts on; I promise you. We are full force temper tantrums over here with the most popular words in her vocabulary being “no” & “mine”. I thought, oh what a fail this is going to be, dragging her out in the snow all bundled up right before nap time and right in the middle of teething four molars. I am happy to report that it was instead a huge success and once again worth every minute to have these images that will go in the books as some of my favorites. Apparently, she thinks the fluffy white stuff is pretty cool. Maybe it was just me rolling around in it to get a laugh. Either way, I’ll take it.
